Saldanha Bay – A state witness has made a shocking claim in the Western Cape High Court, alleging that six-year-old Joslin Smith was sold to a sangoma for R20,000 by her own mother.
Lourentia Lombaard, originally a co-accused in the case, turned state witness and testified that Kelly Smith admitted to selling her daughter to a traditional healer. According to Lombaard, the sangoma specifically wanted Joslin for her skin and eyes.
The revelation comes amid the trial of Smith, her boyfriend Jacquen Appollis, and their friend Stevano van Rhyn. The trio faces charges of kidnapping and human trafficking following Joslin’s disappearance from her home in Middelpos, Saldanha Bay, on January 19, 2024.
The chilling testimony has intensified public interest in the case, as authorities continue efforts to uncover the full details behind Joslin’s disappearance.
